One of the changes, or return to normal for me, has been to create the same image many times. What a great practice to explore new ways of representing the same idea. Much like a musician plays the same song in new ways in concert, or the same way a writer edits and adjusts the same story many times.
I made many smaller paintings of this location and while the color and composition felt right something was missing. I did it again here larger and I think it works better. I was able to absorb myself in the painting a bit more at this size. The detail of the trees, mountains, and water gives it a bit more depth and richness.
After sitting with this painting for about 6 months I moved it, stopped and looked, and loved it.
