Park Point Beach in Duluth Minnesota has always been one of my favorite places. It in many ways seems out of place. You don't think of Duluth has one of the most remarkable beaches in the world. Yet, there it is. First you need to get to Duluth, not bad for me just a few hours north. Then you drive through the tourist part of Duluth, drive across the old lift bridge and go all the way down to Park Point Beach Park. You climb over the dunes and then there it is. The sand is hot and the water is ice cold (even in August). Duluth is on the hillside in the distance as you can relax or ultimately start to wander and look at the different driftwood formations that seem to go on for miles. Bundle up since it is Duluth but one place I try to go each year.
